3. Lí thuyết về câu tường thuật trong tiếng Anh:
Câu tường thuật trong tiếng Anh chia thành hai dạng chính là câu trực tiếp và câu gián tiếp. Đây là một phần kiến thức ngữ pháp quan trọng, thường được sử dụng khi muốn diễn đạt lại lời nói của người khác hoặc chính mình trong quá khứ.
Câu tường thuật trực tiếp (direct speech) là khi chúng ta truyền đạt chính xác lời nói của người khác. Ví dụ: “Bob said: ‘I have gone to BTS concerts 3 times this year!’” Đây là lời nói trực tiếp của Bob.
Câu tường thuật gián tiếp (indirect speech) là khi chúng ta diễn đạt lại lời nói của người khác mà không sử dụng trực tiếp từ ngữ ban đầu. Ví dụ: “Bob said that he had gone to BTS concerts 3 times that year.” Trong câu gián tiếp, chúng ta thay đổi từ ngữ để phản ánh lời nói của Bob.
Quá trình chuyển đổi từ câu trực tiếp sang câu gián tiếp thường kèm theo việc thay đổi đại từ và thì của động từ, tùy thuộc vào cấu trúc ngữ pháp của câu tường thuật.
Ngoài ra, câu tường thuật cũng có thể được sử dụng để diễn đạt lại những gì được viết ra. Ví dụ như khi mô tả hành động viết và chia sẻ trên mạng xã hội: “Alex wrote he loved she too the moon and back, then posted it on Facebook and tagged Jessica – his girlfriend.”
